Flat Stanley Fun Time

Reading is fun, especially when a boy gets flat and lives lots of adventures around the world.
Flat Stanley's collection has made the students feel how fun it would be to become flat,  pass under doors, and be everywhere!

A special guest

Today we welcomed in our classroom Dra. Adelina Kano who came to talk to our kids about the importance of brushing their teeth after meals to avoid cavities.

Field Trip to The Amazing Human Body Exhibit

The field trip this week was a success!
We were glad to see them so curious and excited about the human body.
Unfortunately we were not allowed to take pictures inside of the exhibit.

Show and Tell

Delile shared his weekend adventurous experience with his friends.

He brought pictures and a compass to help explain what the quest was about.

He answered all the questions posed by his classmates.

It was a pleasure to hear about it! Thanks, Delile!

Guess the Celebration

Have you ever heard about the Boryeong Mud Festival or the Songkran Water Festival? Well, our students have!

This week we took some time to analyze photos of different types of celebrations, to talk about the characteristics and diversity among them, comparing and contrasting while learning about some "new" ones.

We used the 5 Ws and 1 H (Who, When, Where, What, Why, How) to keep the discussion going

It was a great class!

A yucky discovery!

This week we made a gross discovery about how food changes while traveling from our mouth to our stomach after we chew.

First, students put an item from their snacks in the plastic bag with a little bit of water

We took the change to discuss the importance of eating healthier snacks

We observed what happened to some of the food items after one hour

Next, we gave a little help "chewing" the food with our hands

It was yucky, but everyone enjoyed giving a little squeeze

It looked awful!

We needed extra help with some items that were too hard to "chew"

Squeeze!

We took notes about our little experiment, recording the food items we used, what we observed during the process, what we would have observed if we had healthier food items such as fruits, and most of all how food looks like during digestion.

It was disgustingly awesome!
